Remita: Nigeria’s Innovative Software Solution
Developed 100% in Nigeria by SystemSpecs, an indigenous software firm, Remita is an electronic payment platform that helps individuals, organisations and governments to RECEIVE and MAKE PAYMENTS easily.
Adopted by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as the payment gateway for the facilitation of the Federal Government’s much celebrated Treasury Single Account (TSA) project – the largest and most impactful of its kind in Africa, Remita processes about $6 Billion worth of transactions on a monthly basis and has enabled the Federal Government to mop up more than N3 trillion of government funds that would otherwise have been lying idle in different commercial banks.
Thriving on collaborations with key stakeholders across the payment industry, including all commercial banks, more than 500 microfinance banks, card payment processors and industry regulators, Remita has evolved into a highly preferred platform for electronic payment in the country, with footprints in a number of neighbouring countries, with plans at advanced stages to roll out across the African continent.
Remita is regarded as a remarkable software success story and a pride to Nigeria and Africa at large, and has in fact been voted many times as Nigeria’s Software of the Year.
